In the original version, inspired by a poem by Supervielle, the singer watches a sleeping form as the light of dawn from many lands spreads over her (or him). In the version by E M Solomons a lover whose partner has died finds consolation as he (or she) sees a glimpse of her (or him) in the Dawn light.
