A tour de force of breathing for a tuba and euphonium quartet, but very effective and meditative. The idea of writing a piece based on plainchant was suggested to me by the quartet Tubalaté, who are playing the piece in the sound sample here. The amen section at the end courses through many ideas for amens used by composers over the centuries, ending with a rather unusual "English cadence". The plainchant used is "Te lucis ante terminum" (To thee before the close of day...) The pdf file contains score and parts.
