Here is a reverently flowing instrumental trio arrangement (for VIOLIN and CELLO duet with PIANO accompaniment) of the beloved Gospel hymn "The Old Rugged Cross" by George Bennard.

All three instruments lead with the melody at times, even the PIANO. The first verse begins with each instrument playing a phrase independently followed by the VIOLIN playing melody for the chorus and the CELLO on harmony. The PIANO leads with the melody for the second verse followed by a repeat of the chorus. This peacefully flowing instrumental arrangement is an ideal selection for a church setting and a valuable addition to your sacred repertoire. Duration 3:30.

The range for each part is as follows: VIOLIN ~ G4 to B5; CELLO ~ G2 to D4. This is an excellent selection for early-intermediate string players since all notes for the VIOLIN and CELLO are playable in the first position with one exception for the CELLO (the G#3 requires an extension/stretch of the 4th finger on the D string or shift to 2nd position). The PIANO accompaniment is written for an intermediate player.
