This short, joyful song was inspired by the words of Jesus found in Matthew 28:9. After he had risen from the grave, the first thing he said to the women (according to some Bible versions) was "Rejoice!" Indeed, Jesus' resurrection is worthy of our praise. The lyrics express this joy and praise: "Rejoice, sing hallelujah! We'll worship him who died and rose. Christ Jesus lives today. With joy we'll sing his praise."

Though arranged as a vocal solo with simplified piano accompaniment (guitar chords included), this piece is also an excellent choice for a children's choir with the children singing unison. Set in the key of G major, the vocal range is from the D above middle C to the B above (D4-B4).

This arrangement is one of the four songs in the children's musical program titled "Ten Minute Praise in Scripture and Song--Jesus Is Risen."
