Based on Psalm 86 verses 1-4, this meditative vocal solo draws the listeners into an atmosphere of prayer. The words begin with a petition to God for his protection and guidance, then conclude with the confidence of trusting in God. Set to a soothing melody, the lyrics musically portray the beauty of God's promises found in Scripture.

This arrangement is formatted as a vocal solo with piano accompaniment (3-staff piano-vocal score). Though the piece is written for voice it also makes a beautiful instrumental piece with a C-instrument (such as flute, oboe, or violin) playing the solo part. Set in the key of C major, the solo range is from middle C to the C above. For the violin, all notes can be played in the first position on the G, D, and A strings making this an excellent selection for a beginning violin student.
