Product Description
Hans Sitt might not be a well-known composer to wind players, as he composed music almost entirely for the strings. Born in Prague into a musical family, he was a violinist, violist, teacher, and composer. His father was a well-known violin maker. Although not pushed into music, he chose music as his profession, and was one of the most sought-after violin teachers of his time. Along with many positions as a performing violinist, he was also an orchestral conductor in several European countries.
This sweet piece was originally composed in 1891 for viola and piano and is the 2nd movement of six in the Album Leaves composition. Arranged here for alto flute and piano, it is a wonderful short piece to play for many occasions. In the key of G minor, it is a little melancholic, and a good opportunity to focus on expression.
The complete collection is sold under "Six Album Leaves".
