Product Description

After a very successful TV series run on PBS, Downton Abbey brought their cast back a few years later to make a feature film. John Lunn, who wrote the the music for the TV series was also brought back to compose the music.

A Royal Command is the opening piece of the movie that plays throughout the hustle and bustle of a busy household staff preparing for just a regular morning at Downton Abbey. If you are familiar with the show, then this piece will not be new to you.

John Lunn's musical style comes from pop, and minimalism, which is quite evident in this piece. The repeated eighth notes played under the melody represent two things: the chugging of the train that appeared in the first episode of the TV series and the well-oiled movements of the house staff, who work almost non-stop in order to generate the elegant atmosphere for the people who employ them.

This arrangement is scored for 4 Bb, alto, bass, and contrabass clarinets. There is an optional Eb part that can be played in addition to or in lieu of the 1st Bb part. It is for musicians with advanced intermediate skills.

Duration: 4.25 minutes
