Product Description
Handel's Messiah is one of the most popular musical works of all time, and choirs around the world perform Part 1 of Messiah every Christmas season.
O Thou That Tellest Good Tidings to Zion is a movement that starts with an alto solo, the follows with the choir. In this arrangement, the 1st Flute takes the role of the alto solo. Because the solo mostly exists in the second octave of the flute, I would not recommend it to be a solo part. However, it could be played as a solo with proper amplification, until the chorus, where all 1st flutes can join in.
This is an uplifting piece that requires a bit of skill to achieve a good result. Therefore, I would recommend this piece for choirs of a more advanced level.
Scored for 6 C flutes, alto, bass, optional contrabass. There is also an optional cello part that can be substituted with any C instruments in the similar range.
This is a great Christmas piece!
