California GirlsThis is a song written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love for the American rock band, the Beach Boys featured on their 1965 album Summer Days. Wilson conceived the song during his first acid trip, later arranging and producing the song's recording. Upon its release as a single, "California Girls" reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100.The song is considered emblematic of the 1960s Californian Sound. It is arranged for clarinet quintet of 3 clarinets, alto and bass.( A clarinet 4 part is provided as an alternative to the alto clarinet part.) I have transposed the piece into Eb, a less problematic key, for playing the bass riff, which is shared amongst the 3 lower instruments. The melody is shared amongst the 4 upper instruments, and I have given interesting harmony parts to the others, rather than following the melodic line. Hope you enjoy it.Check out my other Beach Boy's arrangements : God only Knows for clarinet quartet and wind quintet.
