Product Description

The Second Suite in F for Military Band (Op. 28, No. 2) is Gustav Holst's second and last suite for concert band.

Although performed less frequently than the First Suite in E-flat, it is still a staple of the band repertoire. The Second Suite was written in 1911 and first published in 1922.

It is arranged for clarinet quintet of Eb, 2 Bb, alto and bass clarinet (Alternative Bb clarinet parts provided for both the Eb and the alto, so the suite could be performed by 4 Bb clt and 1 bass clt.)

I have arranged the longer outer movements so that players have a chance of a rest (to breath!!) so that all 5 are not playing tutti all the time.
In mvt 4, the repeated 8 bar figure is shared amongst all the players.

The mvts are:

1."March: Morris dance, Swansea Town, Claudy Banks"

2."Song Without Words, 'I'll Love My Love'"

3."Song of the Blacksmith"

4."Fantasia on the Dargason" (incorporating "Greensleeves")

Also available as a wind quintet arrangement.
