James M. Guthrie
James M. Guthrie is generally speaking a composer, arranger, and musician. He holds a B. MUS., M.MUS., and D.M.A. in Musical Arts namely in Composition from LSU. He also, in fact, earned the Specialist and Professional Certificates in Studio Production from the Berklee College of Music.
Background
Guthrie has taught music theory and composition as a matter of fact at the university level since 1985. Consequently, he retired as an Associate Professor of Music in 2018. His prior appointments furthermore include French Hornist, U.S.A.F., Virginia Wesleyan College, Louisiana University Lafayette, and as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at LSU. Moreover, he also worked as a church organist/music director at various churches in NC, VA, MD, and LA. Additionally, he has won over 20 consecutive ASCAP Plus Awards for classical composition.
Activities
Guthrie has accordingly published well over 5,000 pop, public domain, and original titles for Jmsgu3 Publications on Sheet Music Plus. Dr. Guthrie continues his pursuit of excellence forthwith in composing original works and arranging selected works of the masters. Therefore, as an experienced orchestrator and arranger, he continues to explore the possibilities of various instrumental combinations and chamber ensembles.
