Johann Sebastian Bach was a German composer of the Baroque period. He is considered one of the greatest composers of all time and is known for his extraordinary technical command of harmony and counterpoint. His works are characterized by a complex musical texture and an immense variety of musical forms. He wrote hundreds of works, including cantatas, motets, masses, oratorios, and concertos.

Bach's compositional style was highly influenced by the polyphonic tradition of the Baroque period, in which two or more independent melodic lines were woven together to create a rich harmonic texture. He was also renowned for his ability to create a unified whole out of the many different musical forms and styles he encountered. One of his most famous works, the 14 Easy Duets, showcases his ability to create intricate polyphonic textures and to explore the different possibilities of melodic and harmonic combinations.
