A happy-go-lucky ragtime guitar arrangement of the well-known, much loved Beatles tune. The arrangement makes use of an alternating base with the melody woven into the treble. There is a lot of muting and other little cheeky ornamentations; a vibrato, a slap on the face of the guitar, that liven up the piece. The piece is meant for advanced beginners or intermediate students of fingerstyle guitar. I have tried to be quite explicit with the fingerings of the right and left hand as a guide to the student. Depending on the sight-reading skill of the student, an instructor might want to use the arrangement as a basis for teaching ragtime guitar through the so-called Suzuki method, showing the student how the piece is played before revealing what the music looks like in musical notation. The notation of the arrangement would then work as an aid to memory and lesson in reading four-part harmony for the guitar. I have not included many hints as to the dynamics of the piece, leaving this to the interpretative imagination of the performers. Although conceived of as a piece for steel string acoustic guitar, the arrangement works just as well on a nylon string classical guitar.
