"Vardøger" is a piece for solo marimba based on a concept from Scandinavian folklore. It was believed that a spirit in the image of an individual would occasionally precede that person, carrying out their actions beforehand and leaving witnesses believing they had already seen the individual before they actually arrive. This sort of premonitory déjà vu is represented here musically through repetition and variations, as well as a driving rhythmic push.
