Product Description

With this sheet music, you can play "Ave Verum Corpus" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart on piano!

It's an accurate, playable piano arrangement of the full piece, and includes the original Latin lyrics.

Mozart (1756-1791) composed the motet "Ave Verum Corpus" (K. 618) in June 1791, less than six months before his death.
At the same time, he was working on his last opera, "The Magic Flute" ("Die Zauberflöte").

"Ave verus corpum" is a Eucharistic chant dating back to the 14th century.
Many great composers created their own versions of the Latin hymn, including Franz Liszt, Edward Elgar, Marc-Antoine Charpentier and Camille Saint-Saëns.

Mozart's "Ave Verum Corpus" is arguably the most famous version - and it might just be the most beautiful one, too.

In any case, it's a fantastic piece to play on the piano.

Here are the original Latin lyrics, as well as an English translation:

Ave verum corpus, natum
de Maria Virgine,
vere passum, immolatum
in cruce pro homine
cuius latus perforatum
fluxit aqua et sanguine:
esto nobis praegustatum
in mortis examine.

Hail, true Body, born
of the Virgin Mary,
having truly suffered, sacrificed
on the cross for mankind,
from whose pierced side
water and blood flowed:
Be for us a foretaste [of the Heavenly banquet]
in the trial of death!
