Despite this, sometimes its good to keep our eyes forward and to focus on whats coming toward us. But sometimes its also crucial to look back at yesterday, and last week, last month, last year, last decade, and last century. The here and now can seem so hopeless, but we need to be reminded that this isnt the first time the world has seemed dark. We need to look behind us, to examine the mistakes of the past and learn from them. We need to allow them to open our eyes and teach us how to move forward and how to take a stand. This piece is composed almost entirely of eighth notes which is meant to represent the constant forward ticking of time. Sometimes it feels as if it slows a bit, but then inevitably, it continues on. We cant stop it, however, we can learn from it.
