Product Description

A challenging yet accessible piano piece that is interesting and very rhythmic. Don’t let all of the meters scare you - it is easier to figure out than you’d think at first glance! The first movement - No Toe Tapping - opens with a little motive, then plays around with it in an effort to frustrate anyone tapping their toes in the audience. [Yes, that’s a tip ‘o the hat to Dave Brubeck’s “Unsquare Dance”]. No. 2: Surprisingly Calm - has some interesting and thick sounds. Don’t be afraid to take it slow and easy and make it as rubato as you like. The third movement - Over-Caffeinated - starts with a tri-tone, just because it sounds interesting and a bit jarring. The Right and Left hands argue for quite a while. It all ends in a major blowout, complete with references to the first two movements, and then the final surprisingly pleasant C major chord is followed by the right hand, which JUST has to get in the last word.
