A. The modern dictionary definition of "Eolssigu Jeolssigu" is a phrase used when one is very excited and chatters along to the beat." Modern Koreans associate this word with excitement and joy.
B. Historically, Korea suffered frequent invasions by foreign powers. Many men died fighting in battles. Consequently, women and young women were unable to marry, leaving them with a sense of resentment. This heartbreaking cry was said to be "Eolssigu Jeolssigu". It conveys the earnest and heartbreaking image of a woman trying to overcome her grief. Therefore, it is believed that this word has transformed over time from its original dark meaning to a brighter one.
