Product Description

After 50+ years of teaching music (choral, instrumental, composition, counterpoint, and orchestration), I created an exercise for my composition and counterpoint classes as well as my chorus groups, to help them learn and experience the form of the Baroque Fugue. I took the C minor 3-part fugue from J.S. Bach's WTK Book I. After transposing it down to G minor and doubling the rhythm of the notes to make it easier to read, I wrote a little text that explains the form as the music is being sung. It takes the singers and the listeners on a humorous but anatomically correct ride through the exposition, development, and recapitulation, complete with the pedal-point in the final statement of the subject. I have used this little piece in classes and in concerts where we had the audience laughing along. If your singers have a bit of theatre in them, there is room for some fun choreography and facial exp[expressions. I hope you have fun with this little number. Thanks for giving it a try!!
