Product Description

This song was written as the theme tune for the movie Around the World in Eighty Days, in which it was conceived as a waltz-time ballad. This arrangement takes its lead from Matt Monroe's 1964 cover which reimagines it as a swing up-tune. It is in the same key Monroe sings it in, and follows the form of his arrangement closely, including the placement of key lift and stomp finish. It also picks up a number of motifs from the band parts to create the swing feel, although the melody is rendered a little more faithfully to Victor Young's original, including only some of Monroe's variations.
