Product Description

Of this piece, no less than Leonard Bernstein predicted, "It'll sound like a million!" This exciting 24-minute concerto was written for the Paratore Brothers (Anthony and Joseph Paratore) and was commissioned by the MIT Concert Band. The performance took place in May 1974. This recording is of the premiere performance in Kresge Auditorium, Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The ending of the piece sounded like a choral "amen" to the composer, who subsequently nicknamed this work the "Amen Concerto."
