"Let It Be" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles, released as a single on March 6, 1970. An alternate mix of the track also served as the title song of their album *Let It Be*. Written and performed by Paul McCartney, the song is credited to the LennonMcCartney songwriting partnership. The single version, produced by George Martin, features a gentler guitar solo and subdued orchestral elements, while the album version, produced by Phil Spector, includes a more forceful guitar solo and prominent orchestration. Upon its release, "Let It Be" made a record-setting debut on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 6 and went on to reach number one. It became the Beatles final single before McCartney publicly announced his departure from the band. Both the *Let It Be* album and the U.S. single "The Long and Winding Road" were released following McCartneys announcement and the official breakup of the group.
