From the very first time I heard Hallelujah by the great Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen, I was completely captivated. It wasn't so much the extraordinary lyrics - profound and complex as they are but rather its wonderful, almost hypnotic harmony, which, together with its unforgettable melody, transcends far beyond the original intention of its words. Inspired by this powerful combination, I have created this arrangement with a deeply symphonic and "cinematic" approach, conceived for mezzo- soprano and full orchestra.
