Product Description

Teresa Carreño (1853-1917) was a Venezuelan pianist, singer, composer, and conductor. Over the course of her 54-year concert career, she became known as an internationally renowned virtuoso pianist and was often referred to as the "Valkyrie of the Piano."

Carreño composed approximately 75 works for solo piano, voice and piano, choir and orchestra, and instrumental ensemble.

The Teresa Carreño Cultural Complex in Caracas is named after her, as is a crater on Venus!

Written in 1868, Une Revue Á Prague (A review in Prague) displays Carreños technical virtuosity, as well as her lyricism.

This virtuosity lends itself well to the brass quintet. Each instrument has melodic moments as well as shared cadenza-like flourishes.

The style for the period has a lot of rubato in tempo, allowing the ensemble to express advanced communication.

Performance notes are offered on the last page of the score. Performance time is about 5 minutes.
