Product Description

These 46 duets were composed to take the beginning student through their first year of studying. They progress in introducing musical concepts. I originally composed them in the 1990's and recently made a few modifications. I wrote them for my wife, Rebecca, to use in her teaching. This is how she described them;

"After many years of teaching the flute and searching for truly easy flute duets, I asked my husband, Dell Wade, to write some. Since he is more accustomed to composing symphonies, the first attempts were interesting but too difficult; I kept sending him back to the drawing board to simplify.

Although many volumes of excellent flute duets are available, flute duets simple enough for a first year student are difficult to find. These duets start very slowly and progress in difficulty and complexity throughout the book. Each adds a new musical concept, introducing the student to a range of key signatures, time signatures, and harmonic and rhythmic possibilities. For a slightly more advanced student they provide great sight reading material which the student can enjoy playing successfully the first time.

I have used these pieces with beginning students aged five through adult for the last five years. Beginning adults students are pleased to be given material that is not "childish". Children enjoy discovering for themselves a piece that they have never heard before. Students of all ages have been enthusiastic, growing in confidence and ability as they progress through this book.
