The Platters are an American vocal group formed in 1952. They are one of the most successful vocal groups of the early rock and roll era. With the great voice of lead vocalist Tony Williams, their distinctive sound bridges the pre-rock Tin Pan Alley tradition and the new burgeoning genre. This arrangement of some of their bigest hits by George Caldwell is for accordion orchestra and comprises 4 accordion parts plus bass and percussion. Although mostly written in 4/4 time I have changed most of this to 12/8 time as it does away with most of the triplets and dotted quaver/semiquaver notation, also is easier for the musician to read.
