Product Description

"Magic Carpet Ride" was released by hard-rock band Steppenwolf in 1968, and it went on to become one of the group's biggest successes! The song's fun syncopated guitar riffs and funky bass lines, combined with its psychedelic lyrics about genies and magic wishes, made the song an immediate hit with the era's counterculture set. It didn't take long for it to reach number 3 on the Billboard charts and become one of the band's most-played songs on the radio; it was even incorporated into the Star Trek universe when the characters were running test flights. Although a radio edit was released, the album version of this song remains the most popular to this day, and it's that version that serves as the basis for this Cellobat chart! With its groovy bass lines, fun vocal harmonies, and even a whole mini jam session in the middle, this arrangement for your string quartet will absolutely be as much fun to play as it is to listen to. Rated advanced-intermediate for some tricky rhythms throughout (including the solos in the aforementioned jam session); this will be learnable for students and sightreadable for professionals.
