This is a rather obscure old hymn about sinners asking to come to God. Very little is known about its origins, and its authorship is sometimes disputed. The lyrics were found in a very old Baptist hymnbook, but no particular tune has been commonly associated with these words. It is occasionally done today as a free style gospel or else with a simple Sunday School tune. The lyrics are SM (Short Meter), so I have set it to the tune Festal Song which is commonly used for the hymn Rise Up, O Men of God. This makes a great hymn for congregational singing or as a 4 part choral anthem.
