Giovanni Anerio, fratello minore del più conosciuto compositore Felice, fu cantore a Roma sotto la direzione di Palestrina, maestro di cappella in S.Giovanni in Laterano, in cattedrale a Verona, in seminario di nuovo a Roma, ma soprattutto presso Sigismondo III di Polonia. Oltre a numerose composizioni sacre e profane si deve a lui la trascrizione della Missa Papae Marcelli di Palestrina. Trascrizione a cura di Guido Menestrina

A spiritual song for 8 voices (7 voices plus the basso continuo) by Giovanni Francesco Anerio for Easter Day. Giovanni Anerio, younger brother of the more famous composer Felice, was a singer in Rome under the direction of Palestrina, choirmaster in S. Giovanni in Laterano, in the cathedral in Verona, in the seminary again in Rome, but above all for Sigismondo III of Poland. In addition to numerous sacred and profane compositions, he is responsible for the transcription of Palestrina's Missa Papae Marcelli. Transcription by Guido Menestrina
