Product Description

The march Wo uns're Fahne weht (Where Our Flag Flies) by Johann Strauss jr. was compiled from motifs of the operetta Die Göttin der Vernunft (The Goddess of Reason). The number 10of the operetta entitled "Where Our Flag Flies" gave rise to the title of the march. It premiered on 5 May 1897 at a concert in the Vienna Prater by the band of the Second Vienna House Regiment. This arrangement in the original key of the orchestral version was commissioned by Salzburg Wind Philharmonic, principal conductor Hansjoerg Angerer and premiered at their "Three Kings' Concert" on 6 January 2020 at the "Grosses Festspielhaus" (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria and broadcasted live by Austrian television. Albert Schwarzmann had to step in for the sick Hansjoerg Angerer. Angerer himself had his premiere with this march on 6 January 2025 at the same event, again broadcasted by Austrian television. A live recording of this concert is available at https://www.salzburg-windphilharmonic.at/de/happy-birthday-johann-strauss/ .
