Product Description

Die Entführung aus dem Serail (The Abduction from the Seraglio) was commissioned by Emperor Joseph II, who wanted to establish a national German "Singspiel" as a counterpart to the Italian influenced court opera. It was a huge success from the start and established Mozart in Vienna. The premiere took place on 16 July 1782 at the Burgtheater in Vienna directed by the composer. The arrangement of the overture is one whole tone lower than the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first time performed by Brass Band Fröschl Hall in Tyrol, Austria conducted by Hannes Buchegger on 28 December 2011 at the UMIT in Hall in Tyrol.
