The Prelude in F of Bach's Well-tempered Clavier, Book 2, is a lovely, relatively little-known piece from the Well-tempered Clavier, useful for weddings, events, high school contest performances, and other occasions. The piece has the feel of Bach improvising on an idea, moving through various major and minor keys. All three parts are active throughout. There are no original interpretive markings in this piece, so you have a blank slate of interpretive gestures to enjoy exploring. The recording is an automated rendering of the string trio version and included here just for reference and to spark your imagination about probable tempo.

A number of the preludes and fugues in Bach's Well-tempered Clavier are suitable for string trio with occasional adaptations. Look for other preludes and fugues on this same site.
