Product Description

Two-Part Inventions, BWV 772786, were written by Johann Sebastian Bach (16851750) for keyboard students to help them develop their playing technique and improve their skills in musical invention and composition. However, these pieces are also excellent as music themselves.

To make them enjoyable and useful for string players as well, they have been arranged for violin and viola duet. The arrangement is based on the edition edited by Rudolf Steglich, using Bach's 1723 fair copy and other manuscript sources (Henle, 1955). The original arrangement was made in 2007. Later, based on experience from actual performances, it was revised in 2025.

Also, since using separate scores for each piece was inconvenient, a complete collection of all 15 pieces was made.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard's global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
