This little collection of Easy Melodies and Exercises are intended to familiarise the student with the instrument through the use of melodies they may know or which are easy to pick-up and are enjoyable to play. If they are somewhat random it is because these come from my own teaching practice, tried and tested on even the youngest students as they get their fingers around the first four frets, primarily on the first three to four strings.

For this reason also, Tablature is provided alongside simple notation, without fingering given, for flexibility at the initial stages of learning. There is a mixture of melodies, scales and simple exercises to help the student begin working out how to shift between frets and strings. Chord symbols are provided for teacher accompaniment.
