A lovely, flowing theme begins in the viola, dotted with jovial responses from the flute. The pair carry on until the flute emerges from the background with the melody now soaring above the viola, who gladly discusses with the other. This unconventional duet came to be when I realised the very human-like, vocal qualities of both instruments: the flute like a radiant soprano and the viola, a rich contralto.
