Product Description
From the opening, elegant statement of the "Ecce Sacerdos" chant by the low brass through Bruckner's contrapuntal passages concluding with a climatic finale chant setting, this ten-part brass ensemble arrangement for concert or church engagements presents the rich textures and dynamic spectrum of the brass ensemble. Bruckner's expressive harmonic and contrapuntal elements combined with his devout religious poignancy including chant elements creates this dramatic arrangement of his "Ecce Sacerdos" vocal composition scored for three trumpets in B-flat with alternate C trumpet parts, two horns, four trombones of alto (with alternate parts tenor trombone in tenor clef or horn in F), two tenors, and bass trombone, tuba. The recording is of the entire edition. The Latin text translates as "Behold the High Priest, who pleased God in his days. Therefore, swearing an oath, the Lord made him grow into his people. He gave the blessing of all the nations, he gave him, and confirmed his covenant upon his head. Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning and is now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen."
