The lyrics are claimed to be inspired by the last words of a Garo man who proclaimed the name of Christ and was martyred for his faith, not before witnessing the deaths of his wife and children before him. "Though none go with me, still I will follow."

The piece starts in a major key, painting the first strokes of one who has first come to Christ and experiences that joy and delight.
