As the name suggests, this piece was written to encapsulate the feeling of a valley. None in particular; that's up to the listener to decide. The melody symbolizes adventure and the great outdoors. The piccolo symbolizes how nature reacts to everything happening around it. The brass symbolizes animals and the harmony of life. The euphonium solo encapsulates a great elk situated atop a rock or ledge overlooking the valley. The percussion symbolizes the native tribes that once/still call nature their home. The snare rolls are like grass being blown in the wind. And last, but not least, the wind chimes, along with the crash cymbals near the end of the piece, symbolize a grand waterfall at the end of the valley - water cascading down, smashing into the body of water below.
