This piece is inspired by the popular board and video game Gloomhaven, and is based on the character of the Mindthief. Timing is important in this piece. The syncopated entries into the downbeat need to be tight to ensure that it doesn't 'lag'. The cello is responsible for keeping the momentum up as well as anchoring the harmony which gives the piece a mysterious and uneasy feel. Melody is shared between the remaining 3 instruments so they each have a chance to shine. It is the second in a suite of pieces I have written around this game based on the various characters from the starting game, so as not to introduce any spoilers. (Exponents of the games will know what I mean :-))
