My Old Kentucky Home by Stephen Foster, has become closely associated in recent years with the old Rowan mansion in Bardstown, Kentucky, now maintained officially as a State shrine. The Rowans were cousins of the Fosters, and it is said that Stephen had this "old Kentucky home" in mind when he wrote his famous song. Perhaps he did, but unfortunately no documents have yet been found which establish the date of any visit to his cousins' Kentucky estate. This beautiful melody has been a fixture for over one hundred years at the famous Kentucky Derby horserace. People like how it brings them back to simpler times of yesteryears in the Bluegrass State of Kentucky.

This arrangement is on the Elementary/Junior level. The original melody is a bit tricky, so Ms. Bujacich simplified it a bit but not too much, so not to lose the integrity of the song. The LH harmonies are simple I, IV and V7 structures in G major. There is also an exact version but without Alpha Notes and written in the key of G with the key signature.
