Product Description

Roundelay is the fourth movement of Robert Schumann's Nachtstücke, op. 23 for solo piano. Robert Schumann's Nachtstücke, op. 23 was originally conceived in 1839 after receiving a letter informing him that his brother Eduard was gravely ill and would soon die. Having dreams of his brother's death, Robert Schumann wrote this work in great haste, originally setting it for piano. The work followed a trend of Schumann's works of being based upon the writings of E.T.A. Hoffmann. While this work does not follow an exact story setting of Hoffmann, the mood of the piece is indicative of Hoffman's writing. Within this setting, I used choirs of instruments to develop the primary theme.
