Product Description

Johann Sebastian Bach transcribed the famous fourth movement of Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme (BVW 140) for organ in the late 1740s. The movement, "Zion hört die Wächter singen" (Zion hears the watchmen singing), is a chorale featuring a cantus firmus by the tenors (or by the tenor soloist), violin and viola. It is one of the six Schübler Chorales published by Bach, and is a popular feature at weddings.

The work arranges three distinct organ parts into five voices, allowing a variety of color to be heard throughout. As the work progresses, it increases in volume and intensity, serving as a great accompaniment for a ceremony or wedding.
