The 'Overture' to Mary Poppins (1964) serves as the Main Titles score, comprised of a medley of songs by the Sherman Brothers, and woven together in an arrangement by Irwin Kostal. The music for the film's opening is instantly recognizable, and conjures up images of the London skyline in Peter Ellenshaw's matte paintings. The Overture references all of the following songs: Feed the Birds (Tuppence a Bag), A Spoonful of Sugar, Fidelity Fiduciary Bank, Chim Chim Cher-ee and Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

Mary Poppins (1964) earned 5 Academy Awards, including Best Score and Best Song. Orchestrations and arrangements for the film were by Irwin Kostal.
