This minuet, originally written for piano, has been arranged for the advancing string quartet. It is written in the original keys of Bb Major and G minor, and features some shifting above 3rd position in the first violin, as well as spiccato bowing throughout and a section with a melodic line for the cello. Teresita Carreño-Tagliapietra (1882 - 1905) is the daughter of Teresa Carreño, a Venezuelan pianist, soprano, composer, and conductor. Teresita followed in her mother's footsteps and pursued a career as a concert pianist. With its 3 contrasting sections and interactive parts, this makes a wonderful addition to your ensemble's repertoire, especially if you want to expand genres.
