A poignant Irish tune that evokes the windswept willow groves, river banks and vibrant gardens of Ireland as well as the gentle melancholy of a lost love, "Down By the Sally Gardens" (also spelled "Salley") is arranged here as a trio for flute, oboe and piano. This arrangement begins quietly but soon gathers in intensity, thanks to ornamentation, dynamic shading and a touch of variation. Recommended for concerts, recitals, ceilidhs and any venue celebrating and championing traditional Celtic music.
