I love Carole King; she was not just a prolific singer-songwriter, but produced the most beautifully crafted pop songs that so many artists wanted to cover. Up On The Roof is one such example. The lyrics and melody come together in a perfect union. Nothing complicated or what would appear to be clever but of course it is clever, perhaps effortless would be a better word for it.

My 3-part a cappella arrangement of this sweet song has been written for SAB and perfect for beginner/intermediate choirs, especially if their range isnt particularly high or low. The altos will be delighted to have the majority of the melody and the sopranos and baritones weave together around them. There is a split right at the end for the sopranos in the final 4 bars, but if you feel you cant spare enough to split, it can be left out (the upper notes).
You cannot go wrong with introducing a Carole King song to your singers and audiences alike!
