Alexander Peskanov is a Ukrainian-American concert pianist and composer. Born in Odesa, Ukraine, he emigrated to the United States in 1973, and attended the Juilliard School of Music. Peskanov is a composer of numerous works, including film scores, but has mainly focused on music involving the piano. This charming, spirited work is a 'personal homage' to Leonard Bernstein, and captures the exciting rhythms associated with him; originally for solo piano, it has been expanded for full concert band and percussion and would make a nice companion piece to selections from 'West Side Story' or other Bernstein works in your next concert.
