Product Description

The music from Mary Poppins (movie and stage musical) is of course joyous and all its songs are well known and loved by people all over the world.

The Sherman Brothers who were the senior composing team for Disney for many years created - with extraordinary craft - iconic soundtracks with charm and finesse for films including Mary Poppins (1964), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968), Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971), The Sword in the Stone (1963), The Jungle Book (1967), Charlotte's Web (1973), The Aristocats (1970), and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (1977) and many others. Their ability - let's even call it GENIUS - to write classy, easy listening music was coupled with their amazing skill and sense of supporting the visual story telling.

Arranger/orchestrator John Langley has loved this music for a lifetime and this medley, for SATB chorus, honours the soundtrack and takes five of arguably the best loved songs from the movie/musical and weaves them together to create a wonderful 10 minute medley that each singer and player will enjoy, will satisfy and nourish any film, animation, childrens' or family concert event and will be an absolute crowd pleaser and showstopper for any audience around the world.

It features the upbeat Jolly Holiday, which blends into a bitter sweet rendition of Chim Chim Cher-Ee centered around the Tenors and Basses. Following this is the beautiful evergreen Feed the birds giving the Sopranos and Altos a lovely feature section. A spoonful of sugar follows which blends into the cheeky and energetic Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious bringing the medley to an explosive finale. This is a tour de force for any chorus whether expert or mixed ability.
