This arrangement is for four cellos and is moderately difficult. The notes and rhythms are not difficult but require a strong ensemble to navigate the transitions and pay close attention to the dynamics. All players must have confidence in their ability to lead as well as to follow. Ideally the ensemble should employ a slight feeling of swing throughout.

The part descriptions and requirements are:

Cello 1 (melody) - all in bass clef, must play tenderly but with authority in the lower range of their instrument. Must lead tempo transitions.

Cello 2 - the most difficult, requires quiet play above the melody and the ability to read three clefs as well as lead and follow tempo transitions.

Cello 3 is moderately difficult. The player must be confident in bass and tenor clefs, double stops, and lead and follow tempo transitions.

Cello 4 is the important bass line and utilizes pizzicato and arco.
