Product Description

TTBB Chorus with piano and soloist(s). The piano part has an occasional "ossia" line which can be performed by a duet pianist or other instrument.

This arrangement follows the format and feel of the original song as sung in "Hello, Dolly," featuring a soloist or soloists, while the chorus performs the role of a Broadway chorus, taking the lead at times. The notated rhythm goes back and forth between an easy 4/4 swing and a double-time "cut time" with lots of energy.

The melody is often passed from section to section, allowing each group to shine for a moment at a time. The harmonies are usually simple but occasionally "close" and even a bit "jazzy" (as at m. 145.) Short instrumental sections allow for dialogue from the show to be spoken in between sung sections, or they can alternatively be used for quick dance breaks. The vocal ranges build and ultimately trend on the high side (much as in a typical Jerry Herman musical). This song is well-suited as a first-act closing number.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard's global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
